Refrigerated Air Dryers Ambient air pumped in by a compressor always contains water vapour to some degree, depending on temperature and relative humidity. When this air is compressed, the volume reduces proportionally, but all the water vapour content remains. When the temperature falls to a value where the air becomes saturated, the humidity starts to condense; this is known as the dew point. With an effective final refrigeration stage, which causes a significant lowering of the temperature of the air delivered by the compressor, around 60-70% of the water content condenses out. The remaining 30-40% can be eliminated by installing a Friulair dryer.
